Sathya’s Travelogue

Phuket – Thailand

30 March to 01 April 2018
Wonderful place for relaxing.... Bhoologa Swargam..........

Landed at Phuket Airport on 30 March 2018 evening.... Visa on arrival.... (2000 Thai Baht)

Easy visa process..... No hassles... (Keep one photograph ready)

First visit to “Siam Niramit”... fantastic show.... must see.... dance drama program on the history of Thailand provinces... colorful. Excellent music...huge stage...(even elephants participate...)......
Approximately this is a 2 hour show......

NIGHTLIFE at Phuket.

Bangla Street... famous night life spot... you name it, you get it...
Original Thai massage is a must try here... (Though I never tried....).
Phuket never sleeps.........

Day 2: (31 March)

One day speed boat trip...... (It is on the Andaman Sea)....

First landing at Phi Phi Island.... WOW,,, wonderful island... you can go for scuba, or snorkeling, here....

Otherwise just swim on the sea...it a cool sea.. Not rough....water depth is safe...and alas, less salty....

Next stop at Monkey Island..... Only monkeys.. No humans allowed..

From the boat itself have a look and leave to next spot.....

Now comes the beautiful island, Maya bay beach (where the movie The Beach was shot), which you would have seen in many movies... clean water,, white sand, and surrounded by rocks... foot depth water..... Chill......

Finally we landed at Khai Beach.. Usual beach.. (By this time I became fed up seeing water. Hehe)....

After the boat drive, we moved for another show.. The Cabaret show....

Its dance show... not that much interesting.. 2 hours wasted... recommend skip this in your trip....

(I was told Simon’s Cabaret show is better than this... may be try next time...)

Back to hotel... tiring day... badly in need of rest... Good night....

Day 3

Checked out, the hotel..

Today’s (01 April) plan is city tour... and some shopping...

The driver was very friendly.. And helpful.. (We explained him our requirement.. so he understands better, as to where to take us...) I always have a habit of tipping in advance.. That helps....haha....

First we went to the view point. To have a full view of Phuket...good place for clicking....

Then elephant safari.. (Don’t expect jungle...it is a short safari for 30 minutes...) but enjoyable...

Later factory visit... don’t get shocked...visit to factories which make honey and cashew.... place to buy some good honey and cashew nuts... I filled my stomach with the free samples kept.. hehe.....

Our next stop was at a GEMS Gallery show room...WOW .. Such a huge show room, where you get original gems... Guys never miss this place... it is as big as a football stadium....

After having Thai lunch.. We moved on to Tiger Kingdom...

Must visit place,, where you can take photographs with tiger.. (They look tired, and doped)... (Don’t know what PETA is doing???)

After the tiring day, we reached Airport, to catch our flight....

As usual flight was delayed 2 hours.....

Notes:

Visa on arrival: simple process... carry 2000 baht and a photograph..(Preserve the second half (counter foil) of the immigration form.. you have to return at immigration when you go out of Thailand...)

Thai food is awesome... especially the tom Yom soup (hot sour soup filled with chicken, prawn, vegetables etc.).. The pineapple chicken fried rice was delicious... if you like sea food.. Don’t miss the Lobster... Thai food is as spicy as south Indian food, and there are lot of similarities...If you are vegetarian, still you have lots of varieties to try.....

Don’t forget to take the proper adapter for electric plug points.. Thai plug points are different. Better carry a universal adapter...

Exchange Baht (Thai currency) to manage your expenses.. Thai is not an expensive place..

Thai people are so nice and courteous... poverty is seen everywhere.. But very nice people.. Happy with what they have and what they get.... contented life....

Be cautious while moving around ‘Bangla Street’, (I recommend, better move along in groups) there are many thuds move around here...

It’s a safe place, and enjoy to the core....... would like to thank all my colleagues, who made this trip a real memorable one...especially Santhanam and Nirmal for their excellent planning skills. And care....
